Hands-on, teacher-led STEM for home ed families in Bempton, Bridlington, Flamborough and across the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. Launching late October 2026.
Real science and real making — the bits that are hard to do at home
Home education gives children freedom to learn in their own way, but proper science practicals and design technology projects can be tricky to set up at the kitchen table. STEM by the Sea fills that gap. Small-group workshops in our dedicated workshop space give home educated and home schooled children the chance to experiment, investigate, design, build and test with the right equipment and a qualified teacher alongside them.
- Science Practical Labs — hands-on experiments and investigations linked to the national curriculum
- Design & Technology workshops — research, design, make and test with real tools and materials
- Beach School & Coastal Explorers — rockpools, fossils, seabirds and tides on the East Yorkshire coast
- 1:1 tutoring — Maths and English support tailored to your child, ages 7–14
- Washed Up Crafts workshops — beach crafts with sea glass, driftwood and found materials
Designed around home ed families
- Daytime sessions: Monday to Thursday, with group workshops usually 10am–12 noon
- Small groups so every child gets hands-on time and attention
- Mixed ages and siblings welcome — activities are pitched so everyone can take part
- EOTAS and SEND children warmly welcome, with calm sessions that can be adapted
- Led by a qualified teacher (QTS) with Enhanced DBS and 12+ years of teaching experience
- Visiting the area? Home educating families from anywhere in the country are welcome to book
